The Green XL mud fever kit is an excellent care set for horses prone to mud fever and helps to ensure good skin care. Mud fever and scab are common in horses with sensitive legs and can manifest as red, chapped or irritated skin, particularly in the pasterns. Unfortunately, there is no miracle cure – the cause is often complex and can vary from horse to horse. Mok is a well-known skin condition in horses, particularly in the pastern area. Irritation, scabs and chafed skin can be caused by prolonged exposure to moisture, rubbing or dirt – but internal factors can also play a role. If the skin irritation spreads further up the leg, we often refer to it as ‘rasp’.

1. Green-XL Shampoo – Care for itch-prone legs with probiotics
Green XL Horse Shampoo is a biodegradable foam cleanser with added probiotics. Probiotics means that it is not chemical. This gives the shampoo a double effect for your horse's optimal hygiene, namely:

Directions for use: This shampoo can be used once or twice a week to wash the affected areas and remove the scabs. Repeat the following week if the desired result has not yet been achieved.

These differences are perfectly normal and arise because our shampoo is a natural product, made with minimal processing and without any artificial thickeners. The quality and effectiveness remain the same, of course – gentle on your hair and kind to the environment.
2. Green-XL Leg Cleaner – Care for legs prone to chafing, with probiotics
Green-XL Leg Cleaner is a nourishing spray containing probiotics, specially formulated for horses’ legs with sensitive skin. Ideal for red, irritated or chafed skin in the pasterns and around the pastern.
Thanks to its natural formulation, this spray supports the skin’s microbiome and helps to keep the skin clean, resilient and balanced. A great addition to your daily leg care routine – especially in wet weather, muddy conditions or for horses with a lot of mud on their legs.

Ideally, use the spray every other day on clean, dry skin. Does your horse have a thick coat? If so, gently lift the hair and spray between the strands so that the spray reaches the skin properly. For more intensive care, you may temporarily use the spray a little more frequently. Build up the frequency gradually and observe your horse’s reaction closely during the first week.
3. Neem ointment – Care for legs prone to mud fever
Neem is renowned for its versatile properties and has been used for centuries to care for and support the skin. It can help to keep the skin supple and moisturised and is often used to treat sensitive or irritated skin, such as in cases of dryness or flaking.
This ointment intensively nourishes and cares for the skin and supports its natural ability to heal. It helps to keep the skin soft and can be soothing for horses suffering from itching caused by insects.
Tip: Test the product on a small patch of skin first. Every horse is different!

Shelf life: Green xl products have a shelf life of 2 years. Do not store in direct sunlight. It is best to store these products at a temperature of 10–30 degrees. Therefore, never leave these products out in the cold or heat, for example outside the stable or outside your car.

Keep the product out of the reach of children, uninformed people and animals. Although extensively tested, individual variations and factors may influence the results.
