Horses with legs prone to mud fever or scabies can suffer greatly from itching, flaking, sores or irritation in the pasterns and socks. Breeds such as Tinkers, Friesians, Haflingers, draught horses, Fjords and Icelandic horses, in particular, require extra care more quickly due to their thick leg hair. During periods of wet weather, mud or insect infestations, itching, pawing and skin irritation can quickly set in. This care pack for mud fever and thrush in horses has been developed to provide optimal support for sensitive skin.
That is why Paardenkriebels has put together a complete care package that supports, cleanses and nourishes the skin and legs from both the inside and the outside — ideal for horses with a lot of hair and sensitive, easily irritated skin.
How do you use this skincare set?

Why herbs?
In the wild, horses seek out certain plants themselves. In our stables, they do not have that choice, which is why herbs are a valuable supplement. They gently support the body, promote balance and help the system to find calm. That is why many horses respond well to botanical herbs during periods of skin sensitivity or stress.
Quality of the herbs
The herbs from Paardenkriebels.nl are botanical, pure and sourced from reputable suppliers. We make a conscious choice to prioritise quality, because only herbs with a high content of active ingredients can really make a difference.
Using herbs for horses – safe or not?
Horses often respond well to herbal remedies. They can help restore the body’s balance. Never exceed the recommended dosage and build up the dose gradually. When using herbal remedies, improvement is usually gradual, particularly when a problem has been present for some time.
Natural ≠ always harmless. Some herbs can be harmful if used incorrectly. Combining herbs with conventional medicines can affect their efficacy or lead to complications (such as severe colic). You should therefore always consult your vet before using them if your pet is on medication, is pregnant or is ill.
Be aware of a possible allergic reaction (known as ‘nettle rash’). In rare cases, small bumps may appear all over the body. If this happens, stop using stinging nettle; the bumps will disappear.
